Slapstick Comedy

Readers,

It is human nature to laugh at people hurting themselves, damaging their property or both at the same time out of sheer stupidity. Its not the best thing about us - perhaps we ought to be more compassionate but then we would miss out on slapstick comedy - which is arguably the funniest - after sarcasm of course which is commonly known as the highest form of wit(!)

Anyway - on the topic of slapstick comedy - you good people have got to see this video.

I saw it ages ago and forgot about it - still i was just on youtube and crashed it into it again and thought I have got to share this fantastic clip.

I am a strong advocate of 'its the little things in life that make it so good!' like a cup of tea in the morning or watching this clip on youtube whenever you feel a bit sad!!

Take care people and remember - laughing at other peoples misfortune is ok - hell some people make a living out of doing stupid things to have people laugh at them!
(Take that most horrendously stupid show 'Jackass' and watch it for a few minutes if you dont believe me!)

Ciao

Laughter

Dear Readers,

Ramadan is over so thankfully we can all return to eating and drinking sensible amounts in sensible doses again!
Unfortunately - i caught a bug so was unable to fast the last day but thankfully I have recovered now with no serious dramas - such as having to visit my Dr, the hospital or worse! (Pukin' in the dustbin was about as bad as it got but thats a little too much information so lets quickly move on!)

My random thought for the day is that we dont spend enough time making up, telling, reading or forwarding jokes on!

We only live on this planet for such a short time and it has often been suggested that humour and laughing are a massive coping mechanism humans have been given because without it - we would actually all go insane or worse - become 'clinically depressed' God Forbid!!

Now I cant really think of any jokes of the top of my head - but my bro made a really good joke site many moons ago (www.just-jokes.co.uk for those of you who are interested) and i really recommend you visit it or other joke sites/joke books etc at least once a day!

Recently I got into 'Scrubs' (repeats on Paramount) - and what I realised is that I am probably at my happiest when watching that awesome sit-com!!

No-one is suggesting you use all your spare time giggling at your monitor or telly - but making some time to laugh every day is guaranteed to increase the quality of your life and i will go out and put my head on the block and even say probably quantity!

Take it easy folks and happy gigglin'

Gambling

Dear Readers,

It appears that laws regarding advertising bookmakers and the 'joys' of gambling have changed and it is now on our tv sets!

I personally am shocked and appalled at this as it is a well known and accepted fact that gambling is a destructive disease that can destroy peoples lives!

It was only in yesterday's newspaper that I was reading about a guy called Paul Sadler who stole 4 million pounds over a few years to fund what is a self admitted gambling problem!

Was this a poor man who had to rely on the sheer luck of betting on games of chance? No - this was a wealthy business man who didnt even do it for the need of money!
You can read this whole story at http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2007/10/07/2994752.htm

Do you think that this is an isolated case? If so you are naieve - but to further prove my own point I was also reading about a chinese man who made his living in trafficking babies in China. This man also admits that he sold his own child to fund his drinking and gambling addictions. (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2007/10/08/evil-of-the-baby-traders-89520-19912916/)

It is tragic that in this country 'freedom of speech' and freedom of expression are allowing such vices as gambling to be glorified and enriched through celebrity endorsement.

Think about it - when do you ever hear of a bookmaker going bust? NEVER - in fact new ones appear to be opening up all the time.

Why? Because it is the greatest hustle of all. Beware - you now can no longer say you werent warned.

But is it enough to know the dangers yourself and simply steer clear? For me its not - I feel as though we must petition for the laws to be changed back to the way they were. It would be even better to illegalise gambling as a whole rather than the mere advertising of it but I am a realistic person and you must take a step at a time.

Kindly pass the message to petition against the new legislation on gambling on.
This can be done at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Ban-TV-Gamb-Ads/

It will take a few moments of your time but its for the betterment of our society and if we allow ourselves and children to be taught to gamble through advertising, then who knows what will be permissible through advertising next?

On this note, I will leave you all to ponder where you stand and hope you all sign the petition and spread the message on to your friends and family to also sign the petiton.

Peace.

Fear

Readers,

What scares you the most? Ever taken a moment out to think about it?

My own personal pet fear is mice and sod's law - recently we had a few of them running around the kitchen!

Now I know for most of you - yoi probably think - mice? whats the big deal?
And to be fair mice run away at the sight of us humans - but still - I never said my fear was rational. After all - very few fears are rational!

As most of you are probably aware - its currently the month of ramadan and so us muslim folk cannot eat or drink during the day and therefore stock up during the night time hours. So yesterday around 3 in the morning, I was craving water to avoid dehydration during the day but had to give myself a 15 minute pep talk into going downstairs into the kitchen to face the possibility of seeing a mice for 2 seconds.

(They always run away as soon as I enter the kitchen! and i only catch a glimpse as they speed away)

Fortunately i didnt see one - drunk loads of water and had an easy fast today!

Still it did make me think - if I worry about something as small and meaningless as mice and other people worry about spiders, the human race as a whole has got a whole lot of growing up to do!!

I say from now on - lets all face our fears - be it going to sleep with the spider on the wall (not yet squashed by the bottom of your wellington boots!) or in my case - walk into the kitchen barefooted in the middle of the night and lets face our demons.

Unless of course you are in fear of genuinely scary things like tarantulas, wild animals etc in which case stay scared and keep away folks!

Anyway, talking it through has made me feel better. Hopefully I will have instant courage in a couple of hours or so time when its time to load up on the old H20.

Take it easy people and remember to be safe.
